Sleeping child.

The summer at our house always gives us the chance to catch up with family who come and stay. Not only is it a rare opportunity to share time together , but it often inspires new paintings once I get back in the studio, like this one ‘Sleeping child’ .
In Slumber’s Realm
The day is done, the sun descends,
And shadows softly fall.
A little one with weary eyes
Now hears the nighttime call.
No earthly cares disturb her rest,
No worries cloud her mind.
She drifts away on gentle seas,
Where dreams are sweet and kind.
She walks upon the silver sands,
Where coral castles gleam.
She lifts a star with tender hands,
And sails a starlit dream.
She rides a cloud, a drifting boat,
Through skies of pearly hue,
Where angels sing and secrets float,
And all the world is true.
And when the morning light appears,
Its golden fingers spread,
She wakes with joy, her spirit clear,
And sunshine round her head.
For dreams have painted secret skies,
Where tender wonders grow,
A gentle world behind closed eyes,
She carries as she goes.
