A painting in progress
Family is often the subject matter of my work. They are very kind and understanding, and allow me to paint fragments of their lives. Sometimes the imagery is linked to social comment. In this painting I wanted to capture an intimate moment at the Christmas table where the mother and child celebrate the day alone.

Below are just a few of the changes a painting can go through, from the initial drawing and idea until the image finally takes on an identity and a quality all of its own, when it feels right, and there is no more to be done.
