A Cornish Treasure .

Here are a few of the paintings which have arrived in the studio since Christmas , including this one of the new born, a little “Cornish treasure ‘ .
I don’t know about you but in the Uk and Cornwall, the months after Christmas can be some of the toughest, because of the gloomy grey and wet weather , add to that the turbulence in the world , and any joy or sweet sanity can seem as far away as the moon . So painting good people I know and beauty brings light into my world. I have saved the painting of Mickey until last, as he will likely bring you the most joy . He belongs to some special friends , and as you will see, he is as delightfully unconventional as they are …particularly as it is well known that dogs take after their owners .

The gift of these beautiful scented Narcissus arrived after our rescue cat went missing. This happened following a break in by the ‘Beast of Bodmin’ or similar , a cat forced his way into the house at night, several times, through a locked cat flap, over a period of a few weeks . Once in, the intruder attempted to murder gentle Bob and his sister . Following this trauma Bob left home , for days and nights at a time . Thankfully he is back. We now have a system equivalent to Fort Knox and both of the cats are regaining their confidence after the battering from a bully . When I made this painting gentle Bob was missing again, and in my thoughts .

This is Clare , who paints but also makes the most extraordinary sculptures out of found materials . Some time ago she had a rare exhibition of her work in Devon. In this painting I wanted to record that moment . Here, Clare is watched over , standing between those mesmerising and strange animal bird creatures, so familiar in her world .

And finally here is the wonderful Mickey …..

Stay well and cosy …..until Spring has sprung x.
